EID planning 80%
population growth by 2030
If EID’s Board does not infuse common sense
and downsize Management’s 80% growth projections, ratepayers had better
love rate hikes to finance more excess capacity.

$45 monthly water bills? That’s not even the half of it.
Just last year the Board granted multi-year
extensions to both men’s contracts, completely ignoring that EID’s cost
management failings have brought ratepayers 102% of water rate increases
for 2010-2015.

Remember what Jim Abercrombie told us?
Look at your EID bills since the new rates
became effective in April.
In his Proposition 218 Notice, General Manager Abercrombie told us our
bills are going up just $2.38 monthly. He told us he has
saved tens of millions of dollars for ratepayers. How is what
General Manager Abercrombie told us working out for everyone?

Who says EID rates are “fair and equitable?
General Manager Jim Abercrombie repeatedly
has claimed EID’s new rates are “fair and equitable” and that they
legally fulfill all Proposition 218 requirements.
In conflict with provisions of Proposition 218 prohibiting one customer
class subsidizing another, EID’s new rates for 2012 include substantial
subsidies to hydroelectric operations, Agriculture, and the City of
Placerville... subsidies which exceed $3.5 million annually and which
add 17% to the rates of EID’s regular water ratepayers.
Are 17% extra rates to EID’s 38,000 regular ratepayers “fair and
equitable”? While General Manager Abercrombie, the Agriculture
community, and City of Placerville officials say “Yes!”, 38,000 regular
ratepayers may decide for themselves.

Why can't EID tell the truth?
And, why won't EID cut spending?
From EID's September 27th Press Release:
"Although the 2012 CIP plan is
$2.6 million more than 2011, the increase in the 2012 budget is due to
projects being rolled over from 2011 that need to be completed for
system safety and reliability purposes"
